Glenwood Vineyards reached the first rank of this tasting with its Glenwood Chardonnay Vigneron Selection 2016 :
“Simple, Natural, Quality” is the philosophy of the Glenwood Vineyards, located in the Robertsvlei valley, seven kilometers from the Franschhoek city centre. Being surrounded by mountains, Glenwood has its own micro climate with temperatures about five degrees lower than in the main Franschhoek valley.
Tasting notes:
Glenwood Chardonnay Vigneron’s Selection 2016 is made from 26-years-old vines with a low canopy and minimal irrigation. The fruit ripened slowly allowing the development of small bunches with highly concentrated flavors.
“Bold and powerful citrus burst, mouth-fillingly rich and creamy vanilla with beautifully integrated oak”

2nd: Amica Neil Ellis (2017)
Mindful that no single vineyard can satisfy the needs of all grape varieties, Neil Ellis set out to identify distinct terroir in which individual varieties will excel. The winery also values the importance of using eco-friendly viticultural practices.
The Amica Neil Ellis features and tasting notes:
Made through wild fermentation and aged in old French oak barrels. Initial scents of white florals and fresh herbs are supported by those of sweet stone fruits and honeysuckle and completed by a flinty minerality. Juicy with mouthwatering notes of nectarine, lime and lemongrass. A round and creamy mouthfeel complimented by gentle minerality whilst the nervy acidity contributes to a youthful and vibrant finish.

The winery is a complying member of the IPW, a voluntary environmental sustainability scheme.

The Constantia Uitsig Semillon tasting note:
An exquisitely complex nose of limes, orange marmalade and earthy notes, whilst the palate is full-bodied with a wonderful lanolin texture and a persistent finish
